A State Of Emergency In Victoria Will Come Into Effect From Midday Monday
A State of Emergency has been declared in Victoria to help combat COVID-19 (Corona Virus), and will come into effect from midday today (March 16).
A press release from the State government states, that the declaration has been put in place to provide the Chief Health Officer with the powers he needs to enforce a range of measures.
These include a 14-day isolation requirements for all travelers entering Australia and to cancel mass gatherings of more than 500 people, as agreed by National Cabinet yesterday.
Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos announced the State of Emergency this morning, which at this stage will be in force for the next four weeks, but may be extended.
