A fire weather warning has been issued for today
Hot conditions are forecast for Mallee and Wimmera districts today, Thursday November 1st, with temperatures predicted to reach the mid to high 30's and winds becoming fresh and gusty northwesterly during the afternoon.
A total fire ban is in place for the Mallee and a fire weather warning has been issued for both the Wimmera and Mallee due to the severe bushfire rating.
The CFA advises you action your Bushfire Survival Plan now, monitor the fire and weather situation by listening to MixxFM and 3WM or online at www.emergency.vic.gov.au and www.bom.gov.au and in an emergency situation call 000.
It is also recommended that you prepare your bushfire survival kit and finalise your plans.
During a total fire ban no fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12:01am until 11:59pm.
A damaging winds warning has also been issued for the Wimmera and Mallee today.
Wind gusts averaging between 50 and 70 km/h are expected to develop on Thursday afternoon with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h.
The forecast also shows the chance of showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cool change expected to move across the state.
