Farm thefts on the rise

Livestock, Equipment and grain are being stolen

Thefts on the land have increased over the past few months, with the cost of sheep meat and wool going up - it seems thieves are trying to get in on the action and skipping the part where hard work and paying money is involved...

Unbelievely loads of grain are now being nicked too....

Wimmera Agricultural Liason Officer...Simon Grant is pushing for any rural crimes or livestock theft to be reported and says with the price rises in livestock and grain and supply and demand coming into play - thieves are popping up regularly on farms.

Surprisingly even grain has been stolen, which would take some work - knowing the movements of the landowners, knowing the exact location of silos and storages...Mr Grant says to keep an eye out for unusual vehicles, cars, trailers and trucks and to report them immediately to your nearest police station or crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
