$1.65 million commitment from Nationals for Horsham

Nationals candidate for the Mallee Anne Webster and Deputy PM Michael McCormack made a funding announcement for the Wimmera region earlier this morning.

An election promise from the Nationals was made with Horsham set to receive 1.65 million dollars to redevelop the CBD and Wimmera river precinct.

Ms Webster says regional cities like Horsham want to present their best self which is where the funding will go...

Mr McCormack - the Nationals Leader and Minister for infrastructure, transport and regional development says the funding announcement for a CBD facelift will be a game changer for Horsham.

He says the beautification projects he has seen have improved the spirit of locals in the towns having improvements made.

"It allows more jobs, more business activity and that's what we want - we want more opportunities for regional communities, particularly in regional Victoria, particularly places the size of Horsham - it can improve life, it can improve the well being of these communities".

Mayor of Horsham rural city Mark Radford said how exciting it was to have the Deputy PM in town to make the announcement and that a cafe/restaurant will be the landmark project.

An upgrade of the Horsham Angling club is also on the cards and the possibility of more exercise equipment along the river.
