Mitch Creek signs historic NBA contract
Former Horsham basketballer Mitch Creek has signed a NBA contract with the Brooklyn Nets.
The 26-year-old signed a deal that will see him participate in a training camp with the Nets before spending the upcoming 2018-19 season with either Brooklyn, their G-League affiliate side or perhaps a combination of the two.
It's understood the former NBL superstar is on a one-year deal on the minimum NBA salary of $US838,464 ($AUD1.1m).
Creek is set to be the 11th Aussie playing in the NBA next season.
The opportunity comes after Creek performed well at the NBA Summer League for the Dallas Mavericks earlier this month.
The Aussie started three games, averaging 6.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
Creek was arguably Dallas’ best defensive player and showed an ability to score off the dribble, in his second consecutive NBA Summer League.
The 26-year-old also impressed the Nets during his workouts at the team’s training facility in mid-June.
