December 2022 for Waterpark opening

Horsham Rural City Council will use a grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria to develop the region’s first Nature and Water Play Park.

Located at Horsham’s riverfront precinct, the $2.1million grant will go towards the free and accessible park for all ages and capabilities, all year round.

The concept is part of the broader City to River Masterplan to activate the riverfront, with Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack in town Monday afternoon to do the official duties of the sod turning to signify the beginning of the city to river project.

Horsham rural city Council was invited by the state government to apply for funding for the project with
Mayor Robyn Gulline saying tender documents will go out in a few weeks and once the winning tending has been notified then comes the planning process.

Mrs Gulline says hopefully work will begin in October - November this year with it hoped the project will be finished by Christmas 2022, with the community needing to realise it will take time to complete due to the complexities of pipes and all the different elements involved.
